Born August 22, 2000 in Oak Cliff, Dallas, East Twizzy came into the world already fighting against the odds. His mother, Georgia “GG” Granger, had moved from Pittsburgh to Dallas in 2000 to provide a better life, but Twizzy’s father abandoned the family before his birth. With GG working as a mobile phone sales rep and raising Twizzy alone, money was always tight.
In 2013, GG gave birth to twin girls, Amayra and Aleyah, only to be left stranded again when their father walked out. With no support, GG packed up the family and returned to Pittsburgh’s Hill District in search of stability. But the Hill had its own lessons — this was where Twizzy was first introduced to the streets. Under the guidance of Marvin, a well-known figure in the local gang and drug scene, Twizzy learned the harsh codes of survival. Marvin made sure his family was looked after, but Twizzy had to put in work to earn it.
At just 15, Twizzy was arrested for his role in a violent gang-related attack. Convicted of felony assault (1st degree), minor in possession of a firearm with deadly intent, and trafficking of controlled substances, he was sentenced to a year at Shuman Juvenile Detention Center in Allegheny County.
When he was released in late 2014, GG moved the family back to Dallas, where Twizzy served his probation in Texas. Smarter but still with something to prove, he carved out a name for himself in the Dallas streets. But tragedy struck in 2016 when a close friend was killed in a shooting tied to gang activity. That near-death experience was a breaking point for GG — she packed up once again and moved the family to Longview, Texas, determined to save her son.
Longview became Twizzy’s turning point. There, he met a mentor with two decades in the music industry who introduced him to audio engineering and recording in a homemade studio. What started as an escape quickly became an obsession. Twizzy poured his scars, paranoia, and life lessons into music, blending dark trap, pain rap, and Southern grit into a sound uniquely his own.
Now at 24 years old, East Twizzy stands as a voice for anyone who’s fought battles in silence, survived betrayals, and turned pain into power. His music isn’t fiction — it’s testimony. Every track carries the weight of his past, the resilience of his present, and the vision of an artist determined to carve his name into the world.
